Ethereum ETFs See Surge in Institutional Adoption, Signaling Potential Growth for ETH

Ethereum has recently witnessed a significant increase in institutional adoption, particularly through Ethereum ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds). According to Juan Leon, a senior investment strategist at Bitwise, institutional ownership of ETH ETFs surged from 4.8% in Q3 to 14.5% in Q4 of 2024. This notable rise in institutional interest suggests that Ethereum could be poised for a new phase of growth, despite its relatively stagnant price in the retail market.

Vitalik Buterin Advocates for Scaling L1 Gas to Improve Ethereum’s Value

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed scaling Layer 1 (L1) gas fees by approximately ten times to enhance Ethereum’s long-term value. In a blog post, he outlined the benefits of this move, including improved performance, security, and cost efficiency. Buterin detailed multiple use cases that would benefit from increased L1 capacity, such as enhanced censorship resistance for Layer 2 (L2), efficient cross-L2 asset transfers, smoother L2 mass exits, and more. This proposal comes as L2 solutions continue to gain traction in the Ethereum ecosystem.

If approved, this could generate additional rewards for investors from their Ethereum holdings. NYSE's move follows a similar filing by Cboe BZX Exchange for the 21 shares CORE Ethereum ETF.

Despite Ethereum's strong market position, alternative decentralized finance (DeFi) projects like Mutuum Finance (MUTM) are gaining attention. MUTM, a robust lending platform within the DeFi ecosystem, operates as a decentralized, peer-to-peer lending platform, eliminating the need for intermediaries.
